To redefine the interconnectedness of the cultures, regardless of the borders, countries and languages, the exhibition offers a different expression of the circumpolar worlds. The one that is closely tied to the factual reality of things, to the sensibilities, cultural codes and aesthetics of the communities. In order to escape the innateness of exotification and trajectory of relation through the unknown, especially within sensitive settings like exposition of arctic world to the european gaze, we are presenting an installation that would seek the rigor not in the explication of otherness, but in the relationality of knowledge formation territories and it’s aesthetics.

We approach Könyl Sïr (a digital public space, where A shares his knowledge and research of Sakha Rap) to reflect on current global issues by materializing a portal between the archive and the gallery space.
Könyl Sïr translated from Sakha means land of freedom. Könyl stands for free and untamed, and Sïr means land, space and earth. In this land/space, where freedom comes in the form of sounds that are composed of music and spoken language, one can see the idea of homeland being defined. We can see a distinct image/idea of “Yakutia” emerging, the one where the past permeates into the present, and both become inextricable. Musing what space means - using all of the possible variations - both physical and ephemeral elements of the “idea” and the “form” of a place. In this space we would like to imagine the autonomous space that “Sakha Rap” is, alongside looking at the forms it took throughout years.
How it came to be - what factors have influenced it? In what kind of an environment was it propagated?
We want to locate the momentum of its creation within the current “time-space” context. We want to utilize Sakha Rap as a form and as a material to help us formulate the past, present and possible future of Yakutia.

So what is space in Sakha Rap and can Sakha Rap be a space itself?

In the lecture/ performance, taking place during the opening of the exhibition, as part of Project Space Festival, on 20th of June at 19H, ACUD Club, we are imagining the autonomous space that “sakha-rap” is, alongside looking at the forms it took throughout the years. How it came to be - what has influenced it? We want to locate the momentum of its creation within the current “time-space” context. We want to utilize Sakha rap as a form and as a material to help us formulate the past, present and possible future of Yakutia.
Svetlana Romanova will share with the audience her body of research on the postcolonial reality of the Indigenous people of Yakutia and the artist - ,,A" will continue with a video-performance, breaking down some lyrical aspects of the most important songs/artists work, while drawing parallels to the political events that were occurring in Republic Sakha.

Um das Beziehungsgeflecht von Kulturen unabhängig von Grenzen, Ländern und Sprachen neu zu denken, wirft diese Ausstellung einen anderen Blick auf zirkumpolare Welten und betrachtet dabei die faktische Realität der Dinge, Sensibilitäten, kulturelle Codes und Ästhetiken von Communitys genauer. Um der ererbten Exotisierung und dem In-Beziehung-Setzen durch das Unbekannte zu entkommen, vor allem in prekären Umgebungen wie der dem europäischen gaze ausgesetzten Gebiete der Arktis, präsentieren wir eine Installation, die ihre Bestimmtheit nicht dadurch gewinnt, dass sie Andersartigkeit erklärt, sondern sich dem Zusammenhang von Wissensproduktion und Ästhetik widmet.

Wir nähern uns Könyl Sïr (einem digitalen Raum, in dem „A“ sein Wissen und seine Forschungsergebnisse zum „Sakha Rap“ mit der Öffentlichkeit teilt) und denken über die
globalen Probleme der Gegenwart nach, indem wir ein Portal zwischen dem Archiv und dem Galerie-Raum materialisieren.

Übersetzt aus dem Jakutischen bedeutet Könyl Sïr „Land der Freiheit“. Könyl steht für „frei“ und „ungezähmt“, Sïr heißt „Land“, „Raum“ und „Erde“. In diesem Land/Raum, wo sich Freiheit auditiv aus Musik und gesprochener Sprache formt, lässt sich beobachten, wie eine Vorstellung von Zuhause entsteht. Darin zeichnet sich ein spezifisches Bild, eine Idee von „Jakutien“ ab, in der die Vergangenheit in die Gegenwart eindringt und die beiden Zeitebenen kaum mehr voneinander unterscheidbar sind. Es ist ein Nachdenken darüber, was Raum bedeutet – unter Berücksichtigung aller möglichen Varianten, physischer genauso wie ephemerer Elemente der „Vorstellung“ von einem Ort und dessen „Gestalt“. In diesem Raum möchten wir uns dem unabhängigen Ort nähern, den Sakha Rap darstellt, und uns mit der Form beschäftigen, die er über die Jahre angenommen hat. Wie kam er zustande und welche Faktoren haben ihn beeinflusst? In welcher Art von Umgebung hat er sich verbreitet?

In einer Lecture Performance zur Eröffnung am 20. Juni um 19 Uhr im ACUD Club umkreisen wir jenen unabhängigen Ort, den Sakha Rap darstellt, und betrachten die Form, die er über die Jahre angenommen hat. Wie kam er zustande und welche Faktoren haben ihn beeinflusst? In welcher Art von Umgebung hat er sich verbreitet? Wir wollen das Momentum seiner Genese im gegenwärtigen „Zeit-Raum“ verorten. Wir wollen Sakha Rap als Form und Material nutzen, um ein besseres Verständnis der Vergangenheit, der Gegenwart und einer möglichen Zukunft Jakutiens zu erlangen.

Svetlana Romanova präsentiert ihre Forschungsergebnisse zur postkolonialen Realität der Indigenen Völker Jakutiens. Im Anschluss führt der Künstler „A“ eine Videoperformance auf, die lyrische Aspekte der wichtigsten Lieder und künstlerischen Arbeiten beleuchtet und Parallelen zu politischen Ereignissen zieht, die sich in der Republik Sacha zugetragen haben.
