Anne Duk Hee Jordan (www.dukhee.de) erschafft humorvolle und romantische Maschinen, welche biologische Prozesse und chemische Reaktionen zwischen lebenden Organismen und toten Materialien widerspiegeln, erweitern oder verändern. Wobei Jordans Arbeiten zugleich Bezüge zu klassischen Mythen und Poesie entstehen lassen. Unter dem Titel Into the Wild konzipiert die Künstlerin in Kollaboration mit dem Herbarium Leipzig Food Performances. Die Protagonisten der sozialen Esserfahrung sind längst vergessene Kräuter und Gemüsesorten, die Jordan in eine essbare Skulptur transformiert. Die Künstlerin zeigt so Alternativen der pflanzlichen Fülle auf, die in Zeiten des Klimawandels und globaler Migration, auf die Grundlagen des ökologischen Kreislaufs zurückgehen. Die Besucher sind eingeladen sich auf eine genussvolle Abenteuerreise der eigenen Wahrnehmung zu begeheben und die dargebotenen Früchte zu verzehren. Jordans letzte epische Performance war das Eröffnungsdinner der Riga Biennale 2018 (kuratiert von Katarina Gregos und Solvej Olvesen), an welchem zweihundert geladene Gäste an einem komplett verzehrbaren Tisch Platz nahmen.
 
Für Karma Ltd Extended kreiert die Künstlerin einen Linken Tisch: eine soziale Skulptur, die für alle offen ist. Menschen verschiedenen Alters und Backgrounds sind eingeladen an dem Tisch Platz zu nehmen, gemeinsam zu essen, gemeinsam zu philosophieren und zu diskutieren. Der Linke Tisch stellt eine lukullische Heterotopie dar und beschäftigt sich mit Themen wie Hunger, Nahrung und deren Auswirkungen auf sozialer, ökonomischer und politischer Ebene. Ein Beispiel ist die Kartoffel, sie verkörpert als kulinarische Einheit nicht nur eine große Palette von Symbolen, Regeln und Ritualen, sondern fungiert auch als tradierte Speise einer gesamten Kultur, deren Ausgangspunkt ein Spielfeld ist, das kreuz und quer begehbar ist. Wo die Kartoffel sich in Deutschland als hybride, einheimisch gewordene Frucht im Laufe der Geschichte behaupten konnte und sogar eine symbolträchtige Rolle übernahm, hat sie anderen Länder zu Hungersnöten geführt.
 
Ausgehend von diesem von Jordan geschaffenen haptischen und sinnlichen Erfahrungsraum, werden wir am Donnerstag, dem 12. Juli von 13 bis 19 Uhr im Acud Hinterhof gemeinsam mit den Künstlerinnen, Künstlern und Ihnen über die politischen, sozialen und ökonomischen Alternativen unserer Zeit diskutieren.

The visual and food artist Anne Duk Hee Jordan creates humorous and romantic machines that reflect, enhance or change biological processes and chemical reactions between living organisms and dead materials. Her work references classical myths and poetry. In collaboration with Herbarium Leipzig, Jordan designs food performances called Into the Wild, in which she presents a table of long forgotten herbs, edible fragrance flowers, and ancient root knots. The protagonists of this social food experience are forgotten herbs and vegetables, which Jordan transforms into an edible sculpture and accompanying dishes served at the table. Jordan presents an alternative of vegetal abundance that goes back to the basics of the ecological cycle, in times of climate change and global migration. The visitors are invited to take part in an enjoyable adventure of their own perception and to consume in direct access to the presented fruits. Jordans last epic performance was the opening dinner of the Riga Biennale 2018 for 200 invited guests on a entirely edible table.
 
For Karma Ltd Extended, the artist creates a Left-Wing Table (Linker Tisch): a social sculpture, open for everyone, where people will discuss, envision and eat. The Left-wing Table becomes a lavish heterotopy and brings at the same time ecological and socio-political issues to the table, such as the topic of hunger and food and their socio-political and ecological impact. Like for instance the potato, which as a culinary unit not only embodies a wide range of symbols, rules and rituals, but also functions as the traditional staple food for an entire culture. Where the potato has been able to assert itself in Germany as a hybrid, as a native throughout history and even assumed as a symbolic role, it has led to famine and war in other countries. Be sure not to miss this unique experience on thursday July 12th from 1pm to 7pm in the Acud Courtyard.
