The city of Kinshasa was called Léopoldville during colonial times. After the country's independence in 1960, it was renamed Kinshasa. The city still has traces of the colonial era that inexorably shape the daily lives of its inhabitants. Although the architecture and boundaries of the settlements have changed due to the explosive population growth, they are not untouched by the above-mentioned influences, especially with regard to the boundaries between the settlements of the locals and the houses of the whites. Even today, the burden of this separation can be felt. The ' Place des évolués (Square of the Developed) ', one of the squares or gardens frequented by the "developed" blacks at that time, still has the same pejorative name of "jardin des évolués (garden of the developed)". This roundtable discussion will look at these places haunted by the spirit of colonisation.
The performance by Prisca Tankwey entitled "Léopoldville mourning" connects the theme with the urban space of Berlin and its colonial past. Tankwey invites us to a collective funeral of outdated views, and a glimpse into a better future.

Leopoldville Mourning: kollektive Performance mit Prisca Tankwey im öffentlichen Raum.
Die Stadt Kinshasa wurde während der Kolonialzeit Léopoldville genannt. Nach der Unabhängigkeit des Landes im Jahr 1960 wurde sie zu Kinshasa umbenannt. Die Stadt weist noch immer Spuren der Kolonialzeit auf, die den Alltag ihrer Bewohner*Innen unaufhaltsam prägen. Obwohl sich die Architektur und die Grenzen der Siedlungen durch das explosive Bevölkerungswachstum verändert haben, bleiben sie von den oben genannten Einflüssen nicht unberührt, insbesondere was die Grenzen zwischen den Siedlungen der Einheimischen und den Häusern der Weißen betrifft. Auch heute noch ist die Last dieser Trennung spürbar. Der ' Place des évolués (Platz der Entwickelten) ', einer der Plätze oder Gärten, die damals von den "entwickelten" Schwarzen besucht wurden, hat immer noch die gleiche abwertende Bezeichnung "jardin des évolués (Garten der Entwickelten)". Diese Gesprächsrunde wird sich mit diesen Orten befassen, die vom Geist der Kolonialisierung heimgesucht werden.
Die Performance von Prisca Tankwey mit dem Titel "Léopoldville mourning" verbindet die Thematik mit dem Stadtraum Berlin und dessen kolonialen Vergangenheit. Tankwey lädt zu einer kollektiven Beerdigung von veralteten Sichtweisen, und einen Blick in eine bessere Zukunft zu werfen.
