Working between genres of poetry, history, and memoir, American writers DONNA STONECIPHER and CATHERINE TAYLOR engage, interrogate, and make sense of their respective memories of childhood in Cape Town and Tehran, and with the process and location of memory itself. Born in the United States to white South African parents, essayist and scholar Catherine Taylor examines the legacy of apartheid and white privilege in her recently published mixed-genre lyric documentary APART (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2012). Poet, translator, and Berlin resident Donna Stonecipher is the author of four books of poetry, including MODEL CITY (Shearsman Books, forthcoming 2015), and is currently writing a memoir of growing up as an American in mid-1970s Iran.
