Since returning from European live runs with both Peaches and YACHT, Berlin-based darkwave-pop duo Evvol have spent the past few months holed up in their Kreuzberg studio writing the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed debut ‘Eternalism.’ ‘Physical L.U.V’ is the result – a wonderfully atmospheric 5 track EP set for release via !K7 Records in May. Formed in 2014 from the ashes of previous musical projects and having rekindled their fractured relationship, Evvol – AKA Irish singer Julie Chance and Australian multi-instrumentalist Jane Arnison – embarked on a new and revitalised direction. Blending textured, atmospheric guitars, ominous synths, vicious beats and layered glacier vocals, debut full-length ‘Eternalism’ was the sound of commercial pop fused with arty electronica, dripping with industrial charm and evoking Berlin’s seedy underbelly. // Soundcloud

MAGIC ISLAND
Umgezogen von Kanada nach Polen und endlich angekommen in Berlin, repräsentiert Magic Island eines der vielen aufregenden Projekte im Berliner Pop Underground. Beeinflusst von einem engen Kreis anderer Berlin-basierter Künstler und Freunde wie Touchy Mob und Sean Nicholas Savage, reflektieren ihre Stücke sowohl komplexe, als auch ganz simple alltägliche Gefühle und Ereignisse aus Magic Islands Umwelt - so ist zum Beispiel der Name ihres Projekts ist inspiriert von einer Kneipe nahe ihrer Wohnung in Neukölln. Ihre 2015 erschienene EP “Wasted Dawn” entstand aus den zwei sehr eigenen Singles "Dream Holiday" und "Baby Blue." Besonders letztere verkörpert Magic Islands Ästhetik perfekt: Eine diffuse, fast kristalline Sinnlichkeit, glänzend und doch schwer zu fassen, zart und doch ungemein stark. Diese ganz eigene Magie hat einige Fans: Magic Island trat bereits auf Festivals wie der Fusion, c/o pop, Torstraßenfestival oder SXSW auf, des Weiteren teilte sich sich als Support u.a. von Tune-Yards, Ballet School, Hundred Waters, Lowell oder Soft Metals die Bühne. // Soundcloud
