On 20 June, we will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of Kunsthaus ACUD with exhibitions, concerts, performances, guided tours, theatre, films, workshops, food and drink throughout the building.
With this festivity, we want to celebrate the multiplicity, present past and, above all, current contributors and projects within the house, which, despite an increasingly difficult political and economic environment, bring this building to life for cultural practitioners and visitors alike.
We want to look back at the past 35 years and at the present, during which not only the building but also the city around it has undergone fundamental change.
Founded in 1991 by East Berlin artists on Veteranenstraße, the Kunsthaus ACUD has survived multiple crises, emerging each time with renewed vigour and fresh ideas.
Yet the Kunsthaus was never a single institution with a single management team and programme, but rather an association of creators, curators, artists and operators who, individually or collectively, have time and again created culture for the public—whether in a single room, throughout the building or across the city.
Throughout all this, ACUD has remained true to its goal of being an open space, a place free from commercial pressures, and thus offering room for artistic experimentation.
We are celebrating this perseverance and commitment to free culture and independent structures on 20 June across all spaces, and we invite all neighbours, companions and culture enthusiasts to join us.

35 JAHRE ACUD - Offenes Haus
Am 20.6. feiern wir das 35 jährige Bestehen des Kunsthaus ACUD mit Ausstellungen, Konzerten, Performances, Führungen, Theater, Filmen, Workshops, Essen und Trinken im ganzen Haus.
Wir wollen mit diesem Fest die Vielheit feiern, die vergangenen und vor allem aktuellen Akteure und Projekte im Haus präsentieren, die trotz schwieriger werdendem politischem und wirtschaftlichem Umfeld dieses Haus für Kulturschaffende und Besucher zum Leben bringen.
Wir wollen einen Blick zurück auf die vergangenen 35 Jahre und auf die Gegenwart werfen in denen sich nicht nur das Haus sondern die Stadt rundherum grundlegend verändert hat.
1991 von Ostberliner Künstler*innen in der Veteranenstraße gegründet, hat das Kunsthaus ACUD mehrfache Krisen überlebt aus denen es immer wieder mit neuer Kraft und neuen Ideen hervorgegangen ist.
Dabei war das Kunsthaus nie eine einzelne Institution mit einer Leitung und einem Programm, sondern ein Zusammenschluss von Machern, Kuratorinnen, Künstlern, Betreiberinnen, die für sich oder gemeinsam in einem Raum, im ganzen Haus oder in der Stadt wieder und wieder Kultur für die Öffentlichkeit geschaffen haben.
In all dem ist das ACUD seinem Ziel ein offener Ort, ein Ort außerhalb von Verwertungszwängen, zu sein und damit Raum für künstlerische Experimente zu bieten, treu geblieben.
Diese Beharrlichkeit und den Einsatz für die freie Kultur und für unabhängige Strukturen feiern wir am 20.6. in allen Räumen zudem wir alle Nachbarn, Weggefährten und Kulturinteressierte einladen.
