LAYERS graduate party edt. 2
MI 9.10, ACUD Club
Start: 19:00
Have you ever found yourself feeling alone when the music stops and the lights come on? Or perhaps you’ve experienced moments where you didn’t feel safe, faced discrimination have been objectified, harassed or assaulted? or did you lack access to an event? Maybe you’ve felt excluded, unseen, or left out of the experience?
We want to create a space to address and talk openly about these issues in the context of mental health and discrimination in club culture. This event is a FLINTA* open space for discussion, where your thoughts, fears, and emotions are welcomed. Together, we aim to build a safer and more inclusive club culture for everyone.
The panel and collective care session will be moderated by Sarah Farina (Transmission) - international DJ, music producer, curator, and activist. In addition to her musical work, Sarah collaborates with Dr. Kerstin Meißner on the project Transmission, which focuses on amplifying the political significance and history of international sound, club, and rave cultures.
this part of the event is with RSVP: If you’d like to participate, please RSVP by October 6th via this link (https://forms.gle/pKvpCN35AySpRssm6). If you have registered and received a confirmation email but are unable to attend, please let us know in advance by emailing us at info@layerscollective.com, as we only have 15 spots available.
21.30 - 01.30 (Video installation + DJ sets)
After the panel, starting at 21.30, we’ll screen the video installation “Old Boy Network” (https://www.feministprotest.net/protests/old-boy-network) by 0megavybe, resident and member of Layers. Her video addresses challenges faced by FLINTA* individuals in the music industry, highlighting issues of underrepresentation, objectification, sexualization, and the impact of patriarchal structures. Based on surveys and interviews, her work exposes sexism and discrimination of FLINTA* artists.
