Five Broken Camers: Film screening and fundraiser for a family in Gaza
FR 2.8, 20H ACUD Studio
To raise money for the family of @__hayouma from Gaza, we are showing the film “5 Broken Cameras” by Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi on August 2 at 8pm at ACUD Studio (screening time: 8.30).
Nominated for an Oscar, „5 Broken Cameras“ (2011) is a deeply personal first-hand account of life and resistance in Bil’in, a West Bank village where Israel is building a fence. The Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat from Bil’in, a small village in the West Bank, documents with his camera the resistance against the aggressive occupation and settlement policy of Israel. Emad Burnat, who bought his first camera in 2005 to record the birth of his youngest son, shot the film and Israeli filmmaker Guy Davidi co-directed. The filmmakers follow one family over five years, witnessing a child’s growth from a newborn baby into a young boy who observes the world unfolding around him. “5 Broken cameras” is at once a private diary, a political essay and a chronicle of everyday life.
We have 80 seats, but of course we are still happy to receive donations, even if there are no more seats available. You can pay cash or via PayPal on location. All donations will go to the family in Gaza: https://www.gofundme.com/f/urgent-supporting-brain-cancer-patient-to-evacuate-gaza
