A free weaving textile workshop with Bino Byansi Byakuleka reflecting on practices of resilience and care work from his experience inside the Refugee Movement. Bino will share the skills you need to weave your own story and memories.
Bino Byansi Byakuleka formerly known as Petros Byansi from Nakabaale, Luuka- Ugandan-born creative artist, activist, innovator, inventor, and father who is based in Berlin, Germany.
He is the founder of One Love Foundation Berlin for collaborative arts and media practice. He is a beat producer & musician learning and doing with a professional music backup from DBs (Institute For Creative Arts & Technology) in Berlin where he was pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition and Sound Engineering. He is the founder of Wearebornfree! Empowerment Radio and He recently established a new space” One Love Foundation is a collaborative art and media practice studio”https://www.instagram.com/onelovefoundation75/ and initiated of both fm & 24/7 online radio(Onelove Radio from Art Space & Media Practise by the community for the community 24/7.) He currently established the Wearebornfree Foundation in Kakiri, Uganda and he is working on the construction of the art and media school in Uganda.
He holds a diploma holder in Industrial art and design from Muteesa 1 Royal Institute, Mengo, Kampala, Uganda during the academic year 2003/5, and I studied Iconography at St. Arsenios Monastery Ormylia, Thessaloniki, Greece.
In Uganda, he worked as an instructor in a non-governmental organization called SPAU( Single Parents Association of Uganda) which is working with single parents. Before he left for Greece for further studies in Iconography at St. Arsenios Monastery in Ormylia, Thessaloniki, Greece.
In 2004-5 he exhibited some of his art pieces at the Cassava Republic Art Gallery in Kampala, Kamwokya, and donated one of his best pieces to the leader of the Orthodox Church in Africa who sits in Alexandria, Egypt. And another one to the President of the Republic of Uganda in 2006.
He specialized in weaving techniques such as twining, tapestry, and piling. Plus painting portraits in old Byzantine techniques
He offers weaving to Kids, young adults, and adults too who are interested in creating and inventing art crafts by using both their brains & hands.
