Against the backdrop of Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the destruction of cultural monuments in various Ukrainian regions and the damage to museum buildings during the recent missile attack on Kyiv city centre, the already topical issue of preserving Ukraine's cultural heritage takes on a new dimension.
The invited Ukrainian experts, who are currently living in exile in Germany, will discuss the following questions during the panel discussion:
What are the first steps and solutions of the new initiatives and projects since the beginning of the war for the preservation of cultural heritage?
Restoring what has been destroyed - what have we already lost? What can we restore in terms of works of art and architecture?
What new forms of dealing with cultural heritage and its promotion and preservation have emerged during the war?
What can international cooperation and solidarity look like to support Ukraine in the field of culture?
What role does cultural heritage have in the information war and in strengthening the Ukrainian voice in the world?
What is the role of the interaction between the state, the economy and public actors in the maintenance of the common cultural heritage, before the war and today?
What problems do Ukrainian cultural institutions face in times of war?
Cultural and architectural heritage under occupation: is there hope for preservation?
What are the plans for first steps for the future after the end of the war?
