Amplify Berlin
... is a residency program designed to support emerging Berlin-based musicians through mentorships with more established ones in order to facilitate creative development through guidance, a focused work environment and access to resources. This program has been initiated by Acud Macht Neu and is co-financed by the Europäischer Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) and Musicboard Berlin.

MENTORS

Hainbach
Based out of Berlin, Germany, electro-acoustic composer and performer Hainbach creates shifting audio landscapes THE WIRE called “One hell of a trip”. Using esoteric synthesizers, test equipment and magnetic tape his music is both abstract yet very much a corporal experience. He has become known for his immersive live performances and recently through his YouTube channel, where he brings experimental music techniques to a wider audience.

Jan Brauer (Brandt Brauer Frick)
Jan Brauer was born in 1985 in Wiesbaden, Germany. After finishing school in 2004, he went for an apprenticeship as media designer, followed by studies of time based media in Mainz and Sound Studies at University of the Arts Berlin. Since 2009 he is founding member of the German music group Brandt Brauer Frick, with international live shows in classical concert venues, as well as electronic music festivals, and everything in between.

With his group, Brauer released five long players and many singles and remixes. In regular project-based collaborations, for example with Venezuelan El Sistema Orquesta in 2020, or director Martin Butler in 2016, when the group wrote an opera titled Gianni at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Brauer lives in Berlin, where he works as musician, sound designer and -recordist and lately started composing music for theaters such as Berliner Ensemble, Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin) or Theater in der Josefstadt, Vienna.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be Berlin-based.
Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Applicants must be available to dedicate time to the project in the month for which they choose to apply.
