For our next live broadcast from Catalyst’s music studios at Funkhaus Berlin, we present Amplify’s February mentor, Lyra Pramuk and Catalyst’s Doron Sadja. Join us as they discuss creative workflow, technical process and life as an artist, followed by a Q&A with your questions answered live.
ABOUT
Lyra Pramuk
... fuses classical training, pop sensibilities, performance practices and contemporary club culture in what may best be described as futurist folk music. While the American operatically-trained vocalist and electronic musician is perhaps previously best known for her work with musical collaborators such as Holly Herndon and Colin Self, she has just released her critically-acclaimed debut album, Fountain, via Iceland’s Bedroom Community label in March 2020.
Doron Sadja
... is an artist, instrument designer, and educator whose work explores modes of perception and the experience of sound, light, and space. Although each of Sadja’s works are striking in their singular and focused approach, his output is diverse: spanning everything from 250 speaker multichannel compositions to kinetic sculptures, experimental noise making instruments, string orchestra works, and large scale immersive sound and light environments inspired by auditory and visual phenomena.
Amplify Berlin
... is a residency program initiated by ACUD Macht Neu, designed to support emerging Berlin-based musicians through mentorships with more established ones in order to facilitate creative development through guidance, a focused work environment and access to resources.
Catalyst
... (formerly dBs Berlin) is a unique creative-production learning community based at the extraordinary Funkhaus facility, offering BA (Hons) and Master degree programmes in music production, film, visual effects and screen acting. Catalyst aims to create an active learning environment that encourages students to push their creative boundaries and excel beyond what they thought possible.
