Experimental Venues Worldwide presents: Tengal
Tengal is an intermedia artist, curator and cultural producer from Southeast Asia. He has been involved in research-based production bridging art, technology, music, and society. Tengal started as a musician and composer with a penchant for game theory and algorithmic structures. His compositional works, such as the Gangan Series, have been performed all over Europe and Asia. Since 2005, he has been producing various media art events and initiatives in Manila and the Southeast Asian region. He founded the art organization SABAW Media Art Kitchen in Manila as a curatorial platform specializing in experimental music and media art from Southeast Asia.
In 2008, he initiated the Philippines' first international media art festival and symposium, WSK: Festival of the Recently Possible.
In 2017, he curated the INTERSTICES: Manifolds of The In-between exhibition with the Japan Foundation Asia Center and last Feb 2018 was the guest director for「self-reflexivity: Thinking Media and Digital Articulations」exhibition for MeCA | Media Culture in Asia: A Transnational Platform, a Media art festival in Tokyo which featured outstanding talent from Southeast Asia. He recently concluded the Asia Center Fellowship for Cultural and Intellectual Research, where he spent 6 months traveling all over Japan giving lectures, performing, researching, and curating inter-exchange media art projects between South East Asia and East Asia.
In 2018, Tengal co-created the international platform Nusasonic, a creative collaboration between YES NO KLUB (Yogyakarta), WSK Festival of The Recently Possible (Manila), Playfreely/BlackKaji (Singapore), CTM Festival (Berlin), Nusasonic is a multi-year project that plunges into a broad spectrum of experimental sound and music cultures in Southeast Asia, enabling dialogue not only within the region but also with Europe.

Experimental Venues Worldwide presents music and interviews from unique scenes around the globe.
The first five episodes take us to the Philippines, Nigeria, Georgia, Egypt and Kurdistan.
Cedrik Fermont and Mélodie melak take advantage of the streaming format to connect with organizers active in experimental sound art, and exchange about their realities before and during Covid-19. Guests will introduce artists through short live performances.

"Experimental" refers to both artistic practices as well as venues that are experimental in the way they exist, either for artistic reasons or for socio-economico-political reasons.
"Venues" refers to a long standing physical space where experimental sonic art events take place. As well as, ephemeral spaces created by dedicated organizers.
Each show includes live music by artists active in the field and related to the venue.
The shows take place at irregular intervals, days and times to accommodate the guests.
