CATNAPP
... is the guise of Argentinian artist Amparo Battaglia. She combines R&B, rap, breakbeat, pop, drum and bass and other genres resulting in an intense and nostalgic atmosphere with heavy beats. In her lyrics she speaks about love, anger and hate, but also about fear, darkness and nightmarish memories. Her music can go from the simplest 4/4 beat to broken experimental percussion with deep, huge pads and synths, resulting in a unique and original sound. Now based in Berlin , Catnapp is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Having started in 2010, Catnapp continuously mutates and evolves. After (in 2017) founding her own label ‘NAPP Records’, she released the EPs “Fear” and “No Cover” in 2018 on Monkeytown, followed (in 2019) by the album “BREAK”, including the collaboration with Modeselektor for “The Mover”. Having released 6 EPs, 4 LPs, 2 Remix Albums and 3 Singles, she performed, among others, at Berghain, Boiler Room, Fusion, Melt, Secret Garden Party, Latitude Festival, ARS Electronica and will go on an extended album tour worldwide this year.

Lamb Kebab
Berlin-based Cuban-American artist Rachel de la Torre (aka Lamb Kebab ) is best known for their visceral vocal and rap performances. Their productions employ chaotic breakbeat patterns, elements of Bass and Booty with a twist of sadism through a playful arrangement of sample-based pattern making. drawing inspiration from Giallo horror soundtracks and Dolly Parton, Lamb employs their lyrics as an exploration of amoral landscapes with topics ranging from abuse to teddy bears and sex work. Although relatively new to producing Lamb has cut out a niche for herself through collaborations with XVII, Imaabs, Reelle, Leo Luchini and AC with corresponding releases.

ABOUT AMPLIFY BERLIN

Amplify Berlin is a creative development program at ACUD Kunsthaus. Each month, Berlin-based emerging musicians have the chance to be mentored in composition, production and live performance by established musicians.

During each one-month residency, two emerging artists receive feedback and advice from their mentor, work in a private music studio, develop their live set in the ACUD Clubs concert space, as well as present an online radio show. Each residency will culminate in a live set performed by the mentees at a showcase event on a lineup alongside their mentor.

Amplify Berlin is co-financed by the Europäischer Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) and Musicboard Berlin.
