DE: Die Dead Ladies Show findet ungefähr alle zwei Monate im ACUD CLUB statt. Nicht nur ein fabelhafter Anlass, sich im falschen Pelz und anderen Accessoires des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts zu zeigen, sondern auch eine Reihe von Veranstaltungen, die den Aufprall von Feminismus und Fabelhaftigkeit, Glanz und Genie erkundet.
Die allererste Dead Ladies Show feiert die Schriftstellerinnen Irmgard Keun und Dorothy Parker und die Schauspielerin Pola Negri. Obwohl längst von der Weltbühne abgetreten, beeinflussen diese KünstleRinnen noch immer die Gastgeberinnen des Abends: Katy Derbyshire, Florian Duijsens und Daniela Dröscher.
Nach kurzen Lesungen und Präsentationen in deutsch und englisch würdigt DJ Johnny Stardust vergangene Frauen des Jazz, Blues und Country Tanzschuhe also nicht vergessen. Eintritt €4 und wir bieten einen besonderen "Dead Lady”Cocktail zu Ehren von Dorothy Parker an.
Daniele Dröscher ist Autorin des Romans “Pola”, erschienen 2012 im Berlin Verlag, sowie zwei anderen Bücher. Florian Duijsens ist Lektor (Asymptote, SAND), Dozent, Journalist und Übersetzer. Katy Derbyshire ist Übersetzerin deutschsprachiger Gegenwartsautorinnen.
EN: The Dead Ladies Show not only presents a fabulous excuse to dress up in fauxfox furs and other early 20thcentury accoutrements, it is the first in a series of very Berlin events exploring the collision of feminism and fabulousness, glamor and genius.
This inaugural Dead Ladies Show celebrates the writers Irmgard Keun and Dorothy Parker, and the actress Pola Negri. Though long departed from the world's stage, these artists have never stopped inspiring this evening's hosts, Katy Derbyshire (translator extraordinaire), Florian Duijsens (SAND, Asymptote), and Daniela Dröscher (author of the novel "Pola").
After a night of short bilingual readings and presentations, DJ Johnny Stardust will pay tribute to other spirited jazz, blues, and country women of yore, so be sure to wear your dancing shoes. The cover charge is €4, and there will be a signature 'Dead Lady' cocktail in Dorothy Parker's honour.
