The 22nd of May 2014 marks the 100th birthday of Sun Ra. Come and celebrate with us the night before.
We sing and play songs from the inexhaustible Arkestra repertoire.
After the concert: DJ-Set with Sun Ra’s music from SAAL-C and maybe a movie screening.
Live Concert: Mascadian Space Equation
Mascadian Space Equation sind Mathias und Sebastian Maschat. Sie spielen und improvisieren zusammen seit Kindheitstagen. Der Musik und Poesie von dem außerplanetarischen Jazzmusiker und Bandleader Sun Ra widmen sie sich seit über zehn Jahren hauptsächlich durch Interpretation der vom Sun Ra Arkestra gesungenen Stücke. Ihre Arrangements der Songs durchwehen immer wieder freie Improvisationen, die sie ansonsten in ihrem weiteren Projekt, dem Duo mascadian freeplay pflegen. (Eine Vinyl-LP erschien 2010 auf ihrem Label MSE.)
