Mother Of The Unicorn + Pigeon + Aidan Baker

ACUD CLUB 21h → Concert

Cranky Booking is back after a little autumn break to forage, gather and store up for the winter … actually, no, I went on holidays and it was great! I even got a tan, well partially anyway. So it’s off to pastures new at ACUD to start the winter season off in style with MOTHER OF THE UNICORN, PIGEON and AIDAN BAKER.

Mother of the Unicorn have had a very productive year indeed. Playing everywhere across town from Berghain Kantine to Schokoladen, aswell as a great Cranky Fest appearance at Antje Öklesund in August, they released a split 7 inch single on Späti Palace at the beginning of September and went straight into the studio afterwards to record their debut album with producer Tad Klimp. So tonight you can expect to hear a new set with some new songs.

MOTHER OF THE UNICORN is an alternative indie rock band based in Berlin. Having started out in London as an outlet for singer Joe Kelly’s production work the group developed into a band in Berlin out of the desire to perform live. Having released several EP’s online the group is currently working towards their debut album. Their live show mixes melancholic vocal melodies, echoey guitars, choppy beats, cut and paste samples and warm fuzzy keyboards.

PIGEON released their debut EP last May, making their debut live appearance only that same month at FLENNEN FEST. Mixing a healthy punk attitude with some classic indie and post-punk sounds these kids put on an intense live show and have already garnered plenty of attention for their performances having been invited to play Quartett Booking’s 10th Anniversary bash at About Blank this September. They feature members of ZELF, MOLDE and A POOR MAN’S MEMORY, yet another sprouting from the already ridiculously talented stable of Mikrokleintgarten / Flennen bands.

Triptychs: Variations On A Melody by Aidan Baker & Various Artists

AIDAN BAKER is no stranger to Cranky Nights with one of his many projects CAUDAL making several appearances over the past two years including their debut show. Tonight Aidan will play a solo set which will be more song-orientated which promises to be brilliant as usual.
Here’s some bio for those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Baker:
