Thursday Synth Fever

ACUD CLUB 20h → Concert

Some of the avant-garde in the Berlin French Synth scene – LA CHATTE, RANCUNE and LAISSE-MOI – will get together once more on stage, joined by Bordeaux-based artist VOLCAN hosted by ACUD and Synthetic Boogaloo. Four acts influenced by Cold Wave, New Wave and Synth-Pop will make use of heavy machinery and passionate vocals to deliver a unique electronic experience.

The cult "progressive artwave band" LA CHATTE was born in 2002 in Paris through the encounter of Stéphane Argillet (Peine Perdue/France Fiction) and fashion designer Vava Dudu, soon joined by guitarist Nicolas Jorio. In a decade, three albums were recorded, mixing ice cold swaying synthesizers sequences with boiling singings and improvised guitars avalanches. Since then, the trio, now partly settled in Berlin, is leading this side project playing impromptu concerts, joyfully musical performance with apocalyptic visuals and costumes, from Paris to Madrid, Amsterdam, Rome or Berlin. They are working on a new album to be released in 2016. // Soundcloud

RANCUNE treads the line between 80s-inspired electronic sounds and new-wave songwriting. Influenced by garage rock, electronic body music and most things in between, these three French guys living in Berlin can't choose between singing in their mother tongue, English or German. Playing with an assemblage of analog synthesizers, drum machines, plus an organ and a guitar amp, the three members take turns to sing songs of love, lust, grudge and culinary frustration. After forming in mid-2014, they started playing live in 2015 and have been recording demos to document their new-found sound and becoming imbedded in the Berlin music scene in the process. Rancune will release their first 7” single Freiheit mein Arsch / Putain de Problème on the French label Juvenile Delinquent in June 2016. // Soundcloud

LAISSE-MOI has tales of Berliner nightlife, tragic glamorous heroines, women having sex with machines, and failed loves. Dancing to fight melancholy: that’s the motto of this three-women synthpop band, inspired by German no wave and French 80’s pop music. Laisse-Moi is releasing their first EP "Blue Spot" in June 2016 on Berlin label Solaris Empire. // Soundcloud

VOLCAN is a French musician and illustrator/designer who took up learning music during his work on the Lemur (a hardware controller for music and video software used by Daft Punk, Björk, Justice, now an application available on different OS). His performances are built around repetitive, stacked loops, played by synthesizers creating an alteration of ambient, melodic and sometimes noisy soundscapes. He released his first album this year “Thysia” on Camisole records. In 2015 he starts a new project consisting of improvised synthesizer compositions called “Die Ufer” with the Bordeaux based artist Hord (Giallo Disco). // Soundcloud - Youtube
