Torstrassen Festival 2017: The Party

Torstraßen Festival 2017 after party, taking over 2 floors of ACUD. Berlin’s much-hyped Bass Gang returns to the festival taking over the second floor from midnight till dawn. Downstairs will host DJ sets by Nene H. and Brat Star, as well as a live set by Aïsha Devi protégé Gil Schneider aka GIL
 
In combination with a festival wristband the party costs 5€ without a festival ticket 10€.

NENE HATUN
Through her latest project Nene Hatun the classically trained pianist Beste Aydin ventures into a full transformation. Her sound is best to be described as mysterious, dark, transcendental – a breathtaking back-and-forth between many diverse coordinates such as Drone, Orient, Industrial, Psychedelic, Dark Wave, Noise und Techno. Her music is unlike much of what dominates the scene today: it is simultaneously contemplative and liberating. It’s hard not to get wrapped up by the hypnotic, challenging ambition of her sound. She forces you to confront your own expectations or ideas of what ‘club’ music should be."

BRAT STAR
... is Co-founder of the SMH collective, whose open format nights rebel against all things conventional, music genres and gender roles recently relocated to Berlin from Montréal. With her DJ sets Brat Star floats from Dancehall to Minimal Wave, Hip Hop, Italo Disco, Pop and Techno, in no particular order, a seamless sound, just right for a Saturday night!

Released on Aisha Devi’s label Danse Noire Swiss-born Gil Schneider aka GIL’s first EP Orchids&Wasp lives up to its title: A mysterious beauty meets a dangerous kind of buzzing and droning – GIL crafts experimental club music, hypnotic, gloomy, influenced and shaped by trance-like rhythms of African and South-American communities. BASS GANG
With a party called Nachbarschaftsbass (neighbourhood bass) the history of Bass Gang started in 2012. Since then the DJ collective consisting of Berlin-based artists Tuan:Anh, Minoto, Gofi, J.Cloud und Ostblokkk fills a real gap in our city’s nightlife with a spectacular bond of Hip Hop, R&B, UK Funky, Garage, Grime, Kuduro, Zouk and Ghetto House. Bass Gang provides much more than just a queue of DJ set filling the room with a unique spirit of sound and community. No wonder they’re the crew that everybody’s talking about right now!
