Art + Feminism Edit-A-Thon Berlin

ACUD STUDIO 11h → Workshop

Wikimedia’s gender trouble is well documented. Less than 10% of contributors to Wikipedia identify as female. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not. Content is skewed by the lack of female participation. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

Please join us on March 11 in Berlin as we gather in solidarity with the Art + Feminism global community to help change the ratio.

No Wikipedia editing experience necessary. Workshops will be provided for Wikipedia newcomers.

Female-identified editors are particularly encouraged to attend.

What to expect:

- a short training about how to get started as a Wikipedia editor (11H)
- Discussion about the art+feminism movement
- group brainstorm about topics to edit, or women to add to wikipedia
- editing on wikipedia (from noon to 18H)

For those who already have experience editing on wikipedia, you're welcome to skip the morning introduction and drop in as time allows. If you've not edited on wikipedia previously, you're encouraged to attend the early training session at 11H.

Note: Please bring your laptops with you to the event.

People are welcome to take breaks as necessary. Feel free to bring snacks to share.

Tea and coffee will be provided. Attendance is free.
