    ABOUT

    FIZZIS
    … sind eine Leidensgemeinschaft aus zwanghaften Schabrackentapiren. Ein Haufen alter Rockhasen, die sich wöchentlich treffen, um voll in die Saiten zu fetzen, danach nochma ordentlich auf den Putz hauen und am nächsten Morgen unter eigenem Wehklagen erwachen. Sie klingen, als hätten die Feelies, Bob Dylan, Gene Clark, die Nightcrawlers und die Gories auch sovie gelabert, geraucht und Bier geschluckt, wie die FIZZIS, anstatt sich auf die Musik zu konzentrieren. Trotzdem TOPBAND!

    ANDREAS SPECHTL – THINKING ABOUT TOMORROW, AND HOW TO BUILD IT

    Ja, Panik-Frontmann Andreas Spechtl stellt sein neues Album vor, das er während eines zweimonatigen Iran-Aufenthalts geschrieben hat. Als Support tritt der Teheraner Musiker Saba Alizadeh auf, der ihn auch bei einigen Stücken live begleiten wird. DJ: Jonas Poppe.

    //

    ABOUT

    ANDRAS SPECHTL
    … ‘s new album Thinking about t, and how to build it is a multi- faceted work. It is personal the auteur Andreas Spechtl invites us to look deep into the soul of his I, which, as Arthur Je est un autre Rimbaud noted, is the I of another. It is rooted in history the musician Andreas Spechtl constructs an emotional bridge to the cosmic music of Can and the aural sculptures of Conrad Schnitzler. It is, finally, a modern and hybrid work the observer Andreas Spechtl mines deep strata of sound and samples in his sonic quarry, layering them over a constant bass drum, capable of launching every DJ set into a new space and time continuum.

    We hear: traditional Persian percussion and string instruments, sampled by Andreas Spechtl, rearranged and treated with contemporary beats, filters and effects. Aural structures rise up in space, as complex as they are fascinating and disorientating. Nevertheless, even-tempered rhythms mark out a more familiar path approaching narratives in recent electronic music. // Website

    SABA ALIZADEH
    … born in Tehran, Iran is an unparalleled figure at the forefront of Persian music. Renowned internationally as an experimental music composer and master instrumentalist of Persian music (playing the Kamancheh). He is the son of the world renowned Hossein Alizadeh and has toured worldwide for the past decade. Saba studied photography for his Bachelor degree in Tehran and he also holds an MFA from California Institute of the arts in Experimental Sound Practices. Saba’s musical career branches into two different paths. One is Saba as a virtuoso on kamancheh ,a soloist and a collaborator. The other is Saba as a musician in the experimental realm in which his pieces also tend to have a theatrical element to them. Saba is also the founder of “Noise works, a platform in Tehran which mostly focuses on performing and educating sonic arts.

    ABOUT

    VANDERMARK AND WOOLEY
    … had been operating in each other’s orbits for several years, having worked together with Paul Lytton, Joe Morris, Agusti Fernandez, and Terrie Ex, before putting together their duo project in October 2013, when they toured the United States for the first time.

    With this unique ensemble, they deal directly with each other’s iconoclastic compositional and improvisational vocabularies, and have created a book of original material that takes inspirational cues from the under-appreciated work of John Carter and Bobby Bradford (two of their compositions are part of the group’s repertoire).

    Vandermark and Wooley have worked together to create an organic combination of the jazz tradition, free improvisation, and modern composition, and have then placed it into the raw and intimate context of this duo.

    KENICHI & THE SUN
    … is composer, producer and visual artist Katrin Hahner who has released three critically acclaimed albums under the moniker MISS KENICHI. She is momentarily residing in Reykjavik to work as musical director for Thorleifur Orn Arnasson ́s new piece God Bless Iceland which will be premiered Oct 20th. In an attempt to unite all her creative endeavors, which also include art/sound performance, sound installation and live improvisation under one name she chose KENICHI as centerpiece. KENICHI is the dark and luminous universe in which many different suns get to shine. For A HAPPENING she will invite Earl Harvin (drums) and Stell Veloce (cello) to share the stage with her and create an iridescent soundscape. Three suns illuminating a one time only happening.

    //

    NICOLAI/WILHELM
    … is a collaborative performance between experimental electronic musician Nicolai Johansen (dk/local) and biologist, photographer and design-thinker Wilhelm Rinke. The performance looks into relations between natural and synthetic, and seeks to explore the structures of extraction within both visual and auditive representation. // Homepage

    //

    TÆR
    … was born in the late 80s, was approximately 7 years old when trance and electronic dance music first hit the mainstream and so (for obvious reasons) it completely passed him by. He instead developed an interest in classical music through his teenage years and went on to study the the great American minimalist composers at university. Then TÆR relocated to Berlin where – despite being repeatedly turned away from Berghain – he discovered electronic music. 20 years late to the party (and unable to afford an original TR-909 due to inflating rent prices) TÆR set up a studio in an abandoned warehouse and began exploring the common ground between traditional minimalist classical music, and the golden years of electronic dance music.

    DEREK HUNTER WILSON
    … is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Portland, Oregon. His album Travelogue was released earlier this year on Beacon Sound.

    //

    MUNMA & FADI TABBAL [Lebanon]
    Jawad Nawfal aka Munma, a mainstay of Beirut’s prolific electronic scene of the 2000’s, started collaborating with producer/sound engineer/multi-instrumentalist Fadi Tabbal in 2015, on the occasion of the release concert of the former’s album “Three Voices”, in Beirut. Unable to re-create the intricate layering of voices, vocal samples and ambient electronics showcased on the album, he decided to focus instead on creating a common vocabulary with Tabbal’s electric guitar and baffling pedal-work. The result was (and is) a brilliant and tense amalgam of ambient soundscapes, liquid beats and modulated electric drones, situated at the junction of the two artists’ solo works.

    LAURA NAUKKARINEN
    … aka Lau Nau is one of the more interesting names in the Finnish music scene – a singer-songwriter, producer and film music composer. Her songs are imbued with a cinematic breadth of vision and her idiosyncratic, finely honed soundworld builds on fragile, spectral otherness. She uses both acoustic and electronic instruments and field recordings to create soundscapes, combining every- thing from analogue synthesizers to found objects and her own voice. Since her debut album “Kuutarha” was released in USA (Locust music 2005), she has been playing concerts around the world. Her fifth album “Poseidon” is to be released in the fall 2017 by Fonal records (Finland) and Beacon Sound (USA). // Homepage

After that group’s demise he found a new outlet for his percussive mind building drum machines + synthesizers. Over the last 4 or 5 years he has refined his craft and emerged as one of Cascadia’s finest hardware techno producers, providing “off-center dance music that throws off all sorts of wonky textures while still delivering crushing grooves that make you feel indestructible. // Homepage

    TATU RÖNKKÖ
    … is a Finnish percussionist and drummer who is working widely in the field of experimental music and sound art. One of Rönkkö’s focus points is exploring the use of everyday objects as musical instruments and performing in spaces and settings where the borderline between artist and audience is blurred. At A Happening Rönkkö is performing an ambient solo concert with a cymbal, Finnish vintage bowls and electronics. Tatu Rönkkö has been performing and recording with internationally acclaimed artists and bands such as LIIMA (FI/DK), Efterklang (DK), Nils Frahm (DE), David Moss (US), Islaja (FI), K-X-P and Raoul Björkenheim. In his performative concert series ”I Play Your Kitchen” Rönkkö performed in people’s kitchens around the world using only the kitchen ware found in each home as instruments.

    THE 7TH LT KINO GOES BERLIN FESTIVAL OPENING

    Named as the best alternative band of 2016 in Lithuania, Solo Ansamblis is coming to Berlin to open the festival Litauisches Kino Goes Berlin! They will steal your hearts with dark and vibrant sounds and lyrics that are based on personal experience and philosophy. They sing in Lithuanian, but you do not need to know the language to understand their message. They will call you for sad dancing, touched by experimental post-punk and electronic tunes.

    ABOUT

    SOLO ANSAMBLIS
    … is four men in black, the spokesmen of modern urban music scene. Every performance is a contradiction that is filled with energy and melancholy, brightness and darkness, fogged with thick smoke balls, visualisations and fine decorations. Their music is a dedication to the nowadays rush and uncertainty. Alienation, emotional pressure, fake news, social media are played into bands cold, strict, metaphorical and surrealistic cords. Solo Ansamblis’ concert is a bouquet of live instruments, such as effected guitar and synthesizers, expanded by electronically pulsating low-fi sounds.

    In 2016, the band released their debut album Roboxai where songs are made from different layers of emotions. It was sold out straight away! In 2017 Solo Ansamblis released the first vinyl called RXP.

    Although their stage life is still young, Solo Ansamblis can already be proud: they have played in the main music festivals and events in Lithuania and Europe, warm-upped such bands as Gus Gus, She Past Away and others. What’s more, four men have two sold-out tours under their belt as well as The Best Alternative Band Award and 3 nominations more in the Lithuanian Music Awards M.A.M.A 2016

    FINGALICK B2B VAIPER
    A creative duo from Vilnius will heat up the dance floor at the opening night of Litauisches Kino Goes Berlin and will let you melt into the urban club vibe. Once-a-music-prodigy-child, Fingalick now molds the sounds of soul, vocals, beat, house and r&b. A godfather of Lithuanian urban music scene, Vaiper brings light on the future of North-East Europe’s music scene, and the Baltics to be exact.
